Ludlow6 initiates action by design. Our clients — cultural and educational institutions, health organizations and companies dedicated to social good — engage Ludlow6 to design communications that activate their missions.
With experience, a deep affinity and the tools of design, Ludlow6 enables clients to drive meaningful change within their organization, for their constituents and in the world.
Creative Director & Founder
Jim founded the studio that became Ludlow6 in 1990 to reflect his belief that design can initiate action and positive change by aligning with brand strategies, marketing objectives and organizational missions. Guided by insights into how organizations operate within their walls and in communicating with their constituents, he has fostered many successful long-term relationships with clients across diverse markets.
On a Personal Note
Jim is also a visual artist, which often informs and adds dimension to his design work. Drawn to New York City the moment he rolled into Manhattan on a school trip at fifteen, Jim always knew the city was where he would live. He continues to pursue his art background at Greenwich House Pottery working in clay with altered wheel-thrown forms.
He is actively involved in neighborhood organizations, and is currently working with the NYC Parks Department on the design and reconstruction of a park in SoHo.
Jim has developed hundreds of successful brand strategies and marketing programs over the last twenty-five years, from small and large nonprofits like Ronald McDonald House New York, NACME, and the Lymphoma Research Foundation to Fortune 500 companies such as Estée Lauder, MetLife, and Westpoint Pepperell to art institutions like The Paul Robeson Galleries, El Museo del Barrio and the Sheldon Museum of Art.
He has an M.A. Communication Design, Pratt Institute and a BFA, Potsdam College, State University of New York.
Jim is often accompanied to work by his French Bulldog Fannie.
